2022 ELECTIONS

Maryland CAPE Candidate Surveys

Among other activities, the Maryland chapter of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) acts as a legislative coalition for the voting families, teachers and administrators for Maryland’s 120,000-plus nonpublic school students.

With statewide elections in 2022, Maryland CAPE is again inviting all candidates for the Maryland Senate and House of Delegates the opportunity to state their positions on a number of Maryland-specific issues important to our state's nonpublic schools.

As in prior elections, candidates are being asked whether they “support” or “oppose” four separate issue statements. A blank response means that the candidate chose not to assert a position on that particular issue.  Candidates aslo are given the opportunity to comment on any specific issue, in order to explain their position.

WHEN TO VOTE

Your vote counts in both the primary and the general elections

In many Maryland legislative districts, the July 19, 2022 primary election is the most outcome-determinative.

In others, the general election is most important. Your votes can be influential in both elections.

  • Primary election: July 19, 2022 (early voting is July 7-14)
  • General election: Nov. 8, 2022

WHERE TO VOTE

What state legislative district do I live in?

If you're not sure what Maryland state legislative district you live in, please click here and enter your address! Your district also may have changed due to redistricting so check carefully.

Please do not confuse your state legislative district, which is served by your state senator and state delegate(s) with your congressional legislative district, which is served by your U.S. senator and U.S. representative. The boundaries are different!

Where do I vote (early voting or primary day)?

Please visit the State Board of Elections website for polling locations and other information.
