Providing a strong voice for Maryland's nonpublic school community
Among other activities, the Maryland chapter of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) acts as a legislative coalition for the voting families, teachers and administrators for Maryland’s 130,000-plus nonpublic school students. This year, Maryland CAPE surveyed the state’s candidates for Governor and for both houses of the Maryland Legislature regarding their positions on a wide-range of nonpublic school issues. The candidates were asked to convey a position of “Support” or “Oppose” with regard to the issue statements. A blank response to a statement means the candidate chose not to assert a position on that issue. All candidates were also given the opportunity to comment on the issue, in order to explain their position. You may access any comments offered by candidates at the bottom of this page.
